Tri Q is a not-for-profit community-based organisation and is entirely self funded from its business activities. Tri Q receives no government funding for its operating costs, and any surplus funds generated from business activities are reinvested in the businesses, to further employment and training for our target groups.
From 1994 to 2006 Tri Q established and operated the recyclable goods recovery service at the old Mackay landfill site at Bayersville. In 2006 Tri Q moved its recyclables recovery and resale operation to Mackay’s new Waste Transfer Centre in Paget. With the new facility, a new trading name – “ChanSes R”
Our Moranbah operation was established, in 1996, to provide services to the hinterland communities by way of providing goods and services to local businesses and mining companies.
In 2010 our latest venture “Box Lots” commenced trading in Mackay.
A total divergence from past business undertakings, Box Lots retails packaged groceries and specialises in goods that are known in the trade as “distressed” stock (near or on best by date, end of line items, over orders or urgent clearance items etc).
Today, Tri Q employs over 40 people in its businesses, nearly 70% of whom meet the target market criteria – people with disabilities and other disadvantaged jobseekers.
